Stillman’s Tree Service is a family-owned tree care company serving Bradenton, FL for 20 years. We provide tree removal, trimming, stump grinding, and storm damage services with free estimates and full insurance coverage.
Some trees need removal due to age, poor location, decay, or root issues. We’ll assess your tree and explain the removal process, including safety steps and crane needs if required.
ANSI A300-compliant pruning improves tree health, reduces wind risk, and prevents structural issues. Unlike topping, proper pruning helps maintain a stronger, longer-lasting tree.
Palms require different care than trees. Proper pruning prevents over-pruning, weak growth, and storm damage. Sabal, queen, and coconut palms each need specific handling.
Once a tree is down, the stump is still root, still in your soil, and still capable of sending up suckers for years. Grinding it out clears the space for good.
A fallen limb, leaning tree, or blocked driveway can be urgent. We’ll assess the situation and recommend only the necessary action.
We also handle land clearing in the east Manatee corridor, crane-assisted removal for tight or high-risk sites, tree health and disease treatment for decline and decay issues, and hedge and shrub trimming.
Some trees come down because they're dead, some because they're in the wrong spot, and some because decay has gotten into the trunk or the root plate has started to shift. We'll walk you through which one you've got and what the removal actually involves, including drop zones, rigging if the tree is close to a structure, and whether the job calls for a crane.
Pruning that follows ANSI A300 standards does more than shape a canopy. Done right, it reduces wind load ahead of hurricane season, corrects codominant stems and included bark before they split, and keeps a tree healthy instead of just tidy. A crown reduction is not the same thing as topping a tree, and topping is one of the fastest ways to shorten a tree's life while making it structurally weaker.
Palms aren't trees in how they grow or how they should be pruned, and treating them like one is how you end up with hurricane cuts, over-pruned palms that stall out, and fronds that drop in high wind. Sabal palms, the state tree, get handled differently than a queen or a coconut palm.
Once a tree is down, the stump is still root, still in your soil, and still capable of sending up suckers for years. Grinding it out clears the space for good.
A downed limb on a roof, a leaning tree after heavy wind, a tree blocking a driveway. We assess what's actually urgent and what can wait, and we won't tell you a tree has to come down tonight if it doesn't.
We also handle land clearing in the east Manatee corridor, crane-assisted removal for tight or high-risk sites, tree health and disease treatment for decline and decay issues, and hedge and shrub trimming.
Southwest Florida’s sandy soil, lightning, salt exposure, and hurricanes can impact tree health and stability. We plan pruning around storm season and assess risks before problems occur. Our ISA Certified Arborist can evaluate hazardous trees and provide required documentation when needed. Free estimates are available.

It depends on the tree and the jurisdiction. Live oaks and other protected species often require local approval before removal. If a tree on residential property poses an unacceptable risk, Florida Statute 163.045 can remove the permit requirement, but it has to be documented by an ISA Certified Arborist or a Florida licensed landscape architect using accepted tree risk assessment standards. We can assess the tree and sign that documentation if it applies, and the visit is free.
It varies with the tree’s size, condition, location on the property, and whether crane access or rigging is needed. Most removals in this area run in the $150 to $2,500 range, but the only accurate number is the one we give you after seeing the tree, which costs nothing.
Trimming, done as a crown reduction under ANSI A300 standards, removes specific limbs to reduce weight and wind load while keeping the tree’s structure intact. Topping cuts back the main branches indiscriminately, which forces weak regrowth, opens the tree to decay, and shortens its life. We don’t top trees.
Yes. We handle downed limbs, leaning trees, and storm-damaged trees blocking driveways or resting on structures. Call and describe what you’re looking at so we can tell you what needs attention first.
Yes. We carry General Liability and Workers Compensation coverage and will send a certificate on request. We also have an ISA Certified Arborist on staff.
Call 941-803-1309 and we’ll set a time to come look at the tree. The estimate costs nothing, whether the answer is a full removal, a prune, or leaving it alone. If you’re calling about storm damage, tell us that up front so we can talk through what needs attention first.
